Since 1763 the name 'Russborough' has been synonymous with collecting and dealing in fine art. In the closing decades of the last century the historic town of Port Hope has become home to Lord Russborough's Annex, which specialises in an individual mix of antique maps, paintings and prints.

While Lord Russborough's Annex features a great many works of museum calibre, we also offer a wonderful selection of prints priced at under $100.

The twin stacked paddle steamer North King is shown on its Port Hope-Rochester-Cobourg ferry run, along with one unidentified schooner and in the foreground, the three masted 'Julia B. Merrill ' making for the harbour. Built in 1859 and jointly owned by Captain J. Peacock & Wm. E. Spencer, the Julia B. Merrill lived to be the last of the schooner fleet in Port Hope harbour. She ended her days somewhat ignominiously as a burning spectacle at the CNE in 1931. Her wreck is now a national historic dive site. It was the image above that inspired the folk song by Aengus Finnan.
